As construction progresses on this future bus transit hub, we continue to be excited to see the work go vertical. The bus induction charging system and other utilities create a pretty intense web of underground conduit, with the general contractor (SCI Structures) coordinating a skilled team of sub-contractors. The following images are from our most recent visit to the Silverdale Transit Center in Kitsap County:
Site-cast, tilt-up concrete panel dimensions and joints were carefully considered to minimize the number of panels, while taking into consideration the maximum lifting capacity of the mobile crane used for panel placement.
The Comfort Station building volume includes both interior and exterior space, and is designed to accommodate extensive infrastructure for induction charging equipment to be located on the rooftop area well. Induction chargers will be located under the front of the buses in the active bus bays, for near instantaneous charging as buses arrive.
An emergency diesel generator is located on the ground, and enclosed by the Comfort Station volume, with upper roof reserved for other mechanical equipment and the electrical induction charging system.
